Sometimes life forces us to slow down. Recently, I had to take a week off due to complications from dental surgery. While the recovery wasn’t easy, it gave me something I rarely allow myself—time to reflect.
During those quiet moments, I thought deeply about my personal and professional goals. I revisited the things that matter most to me: leadership, personal development, and the skills I want to build—like hunting and trapping—alongside maintaining my overall health. This pause reminded me that growth doesn’t happen by accident; it requires intention.
One realization stood out: renewal of determination. Stepping back gave me clarity and a renewed drive to pursue opportunities where I can make a real impact. I’ve always found fulfillment in roles that allow me to guide others, help them grow, and develop their skills. Leadership isn’t just about titles—it’s about influence. I want to inspire young people who may or may not seek formal leadership roles to become informal leaders, setting examples through their actions and character.
Yet, I can’t ignore a lingering feeling: some of my skills are sitting idle, slowly wasting away because they’re not being used. While I’m happy in my current role, advancement opportunities seem limited. That’s hard for someone who thrives on challenge and growth.
This week of reflection reminded me why I care so deeply about leadership. It’s not about power—it’s about impact. Helping others discover their potential, motivating them to push beyond their limits, and watching them succeed—that’s what drives me. And that’s the path I want to walk again.
