Every journey begins with a question. Mine was simple: What happened to respect?
After decades in the security industry, working alongside people from all walks of life—many of whom became like family—I’ve seen the best and worst of human interaction. I’ve witnessed leadership that inspires, and leadership that discourages. I’ve seen communication build bridges, and I’ve seen it burn them. And more often than I’d like, I’ve watched dignity take a back seat to ego.
That’s why I started NorthStar Perspectives.
This blog is my way of contributing to a conversation I believe we desperately need: one about true leadership, authentic communication, and meaningful relationships. It’s about how we treat each other—not just when things are going well, but especially when they’re not.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m still learning, still growing, still navigating my own path. But I believe my journey has equipped me with insights worth sharing. I’ve led teams, mentored youth, stood watch over critical infrastructure, and served in communities where every person is a volunteer. Through it all, I’ve come to understand that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about service, accountability, and compassion.
My hope is that this space becomes more than just a blog. I want it to be a place where people reflect, challenge themselves, and reconnect with the values that make us stronger together. A place where we remember that dignity isn’t optional, and respect isn’t earned—it’s given freely, because we all walk our own path.
If you’ve ever struggled with leadership, communication, or community dynamics, I invite you to walk this journey with me. Let’s learn from each other. Let’s grow together. And let’s help each other find our way back to what matters most.
Thank you for being here.
